Happy Halloween!

This past weekend we went downtown to our annual Halloween Festival and Luke got to have his first experience trick-or-treating.  We walked around to all the different shops and they had tons of fun activities lined up for the kids including pumpkin painting, horse rides, a bounce house, live music, face painting, and clowns.  Luke wanted to be a dinosaur this year, but was too hot with his hood on, so he just rocked the dinosaur outfit without it and only a t-shirt and diaper on underneath. I choose my battles with him wisely...

Emma dressed up as a little puppy and was very content checking out all the bright costumes and people.  She is such a social little nugget.

Luke had no interest in actually eating any of his candy, but instead just wanted to hold it and play with it in his play kitchen.  I sometimes question how he didn't get my LOVE of sugar, but there's still plenty of time for him to develop a sweet tooth.

We're meeting up with some neighbors on Halloween night for a potluck and then will be walking the neighborhood trick-or-treating.  I don't know how long Luke will last, but I'm excited for his first real Halloween!

The Pumpkin Patch

I like Halloween, and appreciate the holiday more now that I have kids, but have never really understood the whole excitement for pumpkin patches... that was until  a few weekends ago when we braved the crowds and went to Joan's Pumpkin Patch in Livermore.  I heard about Joan's from multiple friends and it was such a fun spot to take the family.  They had TONS of pumpkins, a train ride, a mini western town, snack shop, hay rides, a wide open area for picnicking and lots of animals.

Luke loved weaving and running in and out of all the pumpkins and he especially loved the mini donkeys.  We'll definitely be going back next year!

Choo Choo

Some friends of ours own a mini steam engine, and belong to a club where they have multiple tracks that weave in and out through Tilden Park.  They invited us to come out for the day and not knowing what to expect, we packed a picnic and headed out.  I was expecting big trains that you ride in or see at the zoo or at an amusement park, but these were so small and fun.  Luke was in absolute heaven and loved riding on the trains and sitting in all the different cars.
